When reading more about plant-based nutrition, I brushed by the term “oxidative priority”. What role does it play in our overall health and specifically in weight loss?

Trish – That is not a term I have seen in our studies so I did some research of the doctors we follow (Campbell, Esselstyn, McDougall, Ornish and Greger). They talk about oxidative stress but I could not find any mention of “oxidative priority” in their literature or writings. In doing a (brief) Google search what I found seems to be related to eating an Omnivore diet. Can you share where you saw it or in what context?

I read about oxidative priority in The Idiot’s Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition by Julieanna Hever and Raymond J. Cronise. In this book it is related to the order in which the body uses and stores fuel. Also in context of intermittent fasting.

      Thanks!

Let me keep poking around and see what I can find. So far, I haven’t seen anything that would suggest oxidative priority is a thing we have to worry about. But that doesn’t mean it’s not so. It just means I haven’t found anything yet. I will let you know if/when I find something. 🙂
